 1. Diving seasons

Lofoten is a year-round destination with the optimum overall conditions being from January to December.
Winter season is often described as the best months, with visibility 40m+ and temperature varying from 0-3°C, this is the time for orca and the cod spawning tours
Spring (end of April, May) is great if you’re a macro lover. The temperature rises to around 6°C and wildlife 'begins to show' so, even though the visibility is usually not so good, it’s a 'macro season', it doesn't need to be :-)
Summer season (June, July, August), with temperatures around 8-12°C, is the most popular among our tourists. Visibility is generally good and in the water the wildlife is plentiful (please read more details about wildlife under point' So, what kind of life can I see?'. In summer season advanced booking is highly recommended for both our locations: Ballstad and Svolvær.
Autumn (September, October, November), the temperature is still good, clear water persists, huge kelp forests are full of marine life, and great wreck diving seems to make it 'the best' diving season for advanced divers. Please be aware that from the end of October, the weather can be a little bit unpredictable.

2. So, what kind of life can I see?
We offer a wide selection of dive sites suited to your needs and skill level, ranging from quiet fjords to subsea current-swept straits ideal for the more experienced divers. You can see beautiful kelp forests, fields of algae, coral gardens, soft corals, spectacular jellyfish, urchins and starfish, not to mention larger fish species such as halibut, cod, wolfish or flounder.

3. Own equipment
You can bring your own equipment but make sure that it is serviced and dedicated for cold water conditions.

4. Camera
We do not rent out underwater cameras, so you are welcome to bring your own :-) but please make sure that it is waterproof and properly attached to your suit. We do not take any responsibility for lost or damaged photo equipment during the tour.

5. Glasses
Unless you are bringing your own prescription mask, we recommend using contact lenses for your snorkelling or diving tour.

6. How long is a dive?
A full program takes around three hours. If you choose a diving tour, you are in the water for around 40-45 min, if you choose a snorkelling tour, you are around 60 min in the water.

7. What to wear?
For Snorkelling/Diving tours: please bring the first layer with you - long/woollen underwear. You will receive Ursuit XTreme underwear made from breathable material and double insulation from us.
Warm clothes for the weather of the day (for more details please read 'Tourists in the Lofoten')

8. Can we do snorkelling and diving at the same time?
Yes. All you need to do is to book separate tours for the same time. You will spend most of the time together.
